Carshalton Athletic are proud to confirm that full-back Aziz Sankoh has been retained for the 2025–26 season.

Manager Peter Adeniyi said: “Aziz is a talented footballer and covers more ground than most. If he can put it all together consistently this year — the touch, the drive, the engine — we could be looking at a real breakout campaign. One to keep an eye on for sure.”
The 23-year-old was a standout performer throughout the 2024–25 campaign, leading the Robins in appearances with 54 across all competitions, edging out midfielder Fabio Saraiva to top the chart. Sankoh’s consistency and resilience have made him an indispensable part of Adeniyi’s squad, and his development since joining from Cray Valley U23s has been impressive.
Since rejoining the Robins (in May 2023), Sankoh has grown into a central figure in the team, both in terms of performance and tactical responsibility. His appearance numbers have steadily increased, moving from the 30s in previous seasons to becoming the club’s most-used player, a testament to his reliability, fitness, and professionalism.
A dynamic and intelligent wide defender, Sankoh plays a key role in how Carshalton operate, particularly in attacking phases. His ability to contribute centrally by inverting into midfield adds a valuable dimension to the team’s build-up play, while his pace and precision on the overlap make him a constant threat in transition. Notably, his athleticism allows him to recover quickly and maintain defensive shape when possession is lost, an essential quality in the modern full-back role.
Sankoh also contributed two goals this season: a composed equaliser against Cray Wanderers in late November and a memorable strike in the 3–0 win over Kingstonian in the Surrey Senior Cup quarter-final.
Though occasionally rotated for tactical reasons—such as when Paris Hamilton-Downes featured at left-back to match specific physical demands—Sankoh’s overall impact and upward trajectory have been clear. Adeniyi’s trust in the full-back has only grown, and his continued presence in the squad is seen as a major asset heading into the new season.
What’s more, Sankoh is known for his exceptional attitude and professionalism, consistently working hard every day and earning the respect of everyone around him.
Everyone at Carshalton Athletic is delighted to see Aziz continue his journey with the club.
