After a goalless first half, Charlie George stole the headlines with a superb hat-trick, while Tope Fadahunsi also got on the scoresheet to complete an impressive opening display.
The Robins were then tested against National League South opposition, welcoming Hampton & Richmond Borough and Farnborough to Colston Avenue. Despite competitive performances, Carshalton were narrowly beaten 1–0 by Hampton before suffering a 3–1 defeat to Farnborough, with Tope Fadahunsi scoring a late consolation goal.
A first away trip of pre-season followed against fellow Step Three side Hanworth Villa. The Robins made the perfect start, taking the lead through Tope Fadahunsi, but the hosts responded after the break with two second-half goals to secure a 2–1 victory.
Carshalton then faced two Step Five opponents, beginning with a dominant 6–0 win over Sutton Common Rovers. Ryan Huke and Charles Hagan both struck twice, while Nathan Young-Coombes and Charlie George also found the net.
The trip to Sheerwater provided an opportunity for several trialists and academy players to gain valuable minutes. Despite fielding a youthful side, the Robins produced another entertaining attacking display to claim a 5–3 victory, with Trialist A scoring a hat-trick and Trialist B adding two more goals.
The Robins continued their preparations with another high-scoring encounter against an AFC Wimbledon XI at Colston Avenue. Carshalton produced an outstanding attacking display to secure a 9–4 win, with Nathan Young-Coombes scoring four times, Charles Hagan adding another, and Tyrese Osbourne and Tope Fadahunsi both netting twice.
Carshalton brought their pre-season preparations to a close on Saturday with a 1 – 1 draw in the final friendly against Dover Athletic, as the squad’s focus now shifts towards the competitive action ahead.
The summer has provided plenty of encouragement, with the Robins showing their attacking threat while also giving opportunities to new arrivals, young players and trialists to stake their claim. The sides met during pre-season ahead of the 2025/26 campaign at Church Road. Carshalton raced into a commanding 3–0 lead through goals from Fabio Saraiva, Bryan Ifeanyi and David Smith. The hosts responded with two late strikes to make for a tense finale, but the Robins held on to claim a 3–2 victory.
The teams met again in October in the First Round of the Surrey Senior Cup. An entertaining encounter finished 3–3, with Kola Salami and Bryan Ifeanyi (2) on the scoresheet for Carshalton. Winger Tolu Ladapo featured prominently throughout the summer preparations, while Ryan Huke returned after spending the end of last season on loan from Farnborough. Huke impressed during the 6-0 win over Sutton Common Rovers, scoring twice in the first half.
Academy graduate Joshua Koroma also featured regularly during pre-season and will be looking to push for involvement in Bates’ plans this season.
Bates has strengthened his attacking options with the signing of forward Charles Hagan. The former Hampton & Richmond Borough striker impressed during pre-season, scoring twice in the victory over Sutton Common Rovers and adding another goal against an AFC Wimbledon XI.
Forward Tope Fadahunsi was another key addition during the summer. The striker joined after leaving Chatham Town, where he was the club’s top scorer, netting 17 goals in all competitions last season as the Chats reached the Isthmian Premier Division play-offs. Fadahunsi has already shown his quality in Robins colours, scoring against a Bromley XI, Farnborough and Hanworth Villa before producing a two-goal display against an AFC Wimbledon XI.
Defender Ethan Kaiser arrived following an outstanding campaign with Brentwood Town, while goalkeeper Ben Dudzinski joined after his spell with Havant & Waterlooville.
