Carshalton Defeated At Whitehawk
Carshalton endured a tough test in Sussex, falling to a 2–0 defeat against a strong Whitehawk side.
Manager Peter Adeniyi handed a debut to left-back Renedi Masampu, who joined the club following a spell at Hampton & Richmond last season. Noah Nzuzi also made his first start, having debuted against Welling two weeks ago.
Whitehawk started brightly, forcing an early save from Matt Kerbey in the 4th minute. Moments later, they were handed a golden opportunity to take the lead. Nzuzi was adjudged to have committed a foul in the box, and the referee pointed straight to the spot.

Charlie Lambert stepped up and placed his penalty to Kerbey’s right. Although the Carshalton keeper got a hand to it, he couldn’t keep it out – giving the Hawks an early advantage.
Carshalton soon began to settle and created a flurry of chances. Ifeanyi had the first real opportunity in the 31st minute,

but his effort was comfortably saved by Francis Hurl. Just two minutes later, the Robins nearly equalised when a ball into the box found Ladapo unmarked at the far post. His header, however, lacked the right contact and was easily saved. Ifeanyi followed up with a low drive towards goal, but again Hurl was equal to it, pushing the ball clear.
After a stop-start first half, with several injury delays, the referee blew for half-time. The Robins knew they had work to do if they were to get back into the game.
Carshalton came out strong in the second half and created the first clear-cut chance. Kola Salami was played through on goal, but Hurl rushed out to close the angle and made an excellent save.

In the 54th minute, Whitehawk doubled their lead. The hosts won the ball back in midfield and slipped a pass through to substitute Harry Bridle, who calmly slotted home past Kerbey in a one-on-one situation.
Carshalton responded by introducing Tommy Bradford for Kola Salami in an attempt to shake things up. But it was Whitehawk who nearly added a third, with a fierce shot crashing off the underside of the crossbar and bouncing dangerously close to the goal line – fortunately for the Robins, it didn’t go in.
As time ticked away, Ifeanyi made a driving run down the right and unleashed a strike that beat Hurl, only to see the ball rattle the woodwork and bounce away.

Carshalton kept pushing, with Atewologun testing Hurl with a shot and then a header just a minute later, but the Huddersfield loanee stood firm on his Whitehawk debut.

In a final roll of the dice, Lucas Dyer replaced Ladapo, but the Robins couldn’t find a way through. The referee eventually called time, with Whitehawk holding on for a 2–0 victory.
Attention now turns to Monday night, as the Robins host Burgess Hill Town at Colston Avenue.
