Carshalton On The Brink In Youth Cup
After three consecutive wins, Carshalton Athletic U19s are now just one victory away from reaching the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup – where they could face a professional academy side from the English Football League.

The Robins’ journey began in early September, when East Grinstead Town visited Colston Avenue for the preliminary round. Carshalton made light work of the tie, cruising to a 6–0 win with goals from Laurent Santana-Sanchez, Aaron Ackland, Isaac Agyen (2), Donte Augustus, and Kyle Jones.
That result set up a local derby against Tooting & Mitcham in the First Qualifying Round. In front of a lively crowd of 431 at Colston Avenue, it was the visitors who struck first and led at half-time. However, the Robins responded brilliantly after the break, with Jaaziah Bain and George Hill finding the net to turn the game around and secure their place in the next round.
Next up was Sheppey United, with Carshalton again enjoying home advantage. The Robins started slowly and fell behind early on, but bounced back with two quickfire goals – captain Donte Augustus equalised before Isaac Agyen netted his third goal of the competition to give the hosts a 2–1 lead at the break. The second half was nervy, but Carshalton held firm in front of 404 spectators, securing another hard-fought win.
Now, the Robins face a tough away trip to Burgess Hill Town in the Third Qualifying Round. Burgess Hill have looked formidable in the competition so far, starting with a 7–0 demolition of Cobham in the preliminary round. They followed that up with a 7–2 win at Horley Town and a more controlled 2–0 home victory over Kingstonian in the previous round. Having reached the Third Round Proper last season – beating the likes of Maidstone, Maidenhead, and Colchester – Burgess Hill will provide Carshalton with their sternest test yet.
The stakes are high at Leylands Park. The winner will earn a place in the First Round Proper, where academy sides from League One and League Two clubs join the competition. That could mean a glamour tie against the likes of Reading, Leyton Orient, or AFC Wimbledon at Colston Avenue – or even an away day at an EFL stadium like Reading’s Madejski Stadium or Milton Keynes Dons’ Stadium MK.
