David Smith Departs

Carshalton Athletic have confirmed the departure of striker David Smith, bringing to an end a memorable chapter in the forward’s time with the Robins.

Since joining the club last season, Smith quickly became a fan favourite thanks to his goalscoring prowess and knack for delivering in crucial moments. The 26-year-old hit the ground running on his debut in November, scoring the decisive goal in a dramatic 2–1 victory over Folkestone Invicta – a strike that perfectly summed up his impact from day one.

Over the course of the 2024/25 campaign, Smith proved to be a major attacking force, netting 18 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. His contribution went beyond sheer numbers, with many of his goals coming at pivotal moments. Alongside his debut heroics, he delivered match-winning strikes against Hashtag United and Canvey Island, underlining his ability to perform when it mattered most.

Smith’s final goal for the club came in dramatic fashion this season, heading home a Fabio Saraiva corner in the 89th minute to secure a crucial point in a 2–2 draw away at Ramsgate.

Manager Peter Adeniyi paid tribute to Smith’s influence both on and off the pitch, praising his professionalism, work ethic and the spark he provided in key games.
