Five-Star Robins Win At Oxted

Carshalton Athletic continued their fine run of form with a 5–0 victory away at Oxted & District.

The Robins started brightly and created the first opening when Becky Sargent tried her luck from outside the box, but her effort flew just over the bar. Carshalton pressed forward in search of an opener, and Bianca Underhill found space down the right to deliver a pinpoint cross into the box. Her delivery picked out Gueriani, whose header drifted narrowly wide.

With 24 minutes played, Carshalton had two big chances in the space of a minute. Underhill again used her pace to get in behind the defence and went one-on-one with the Oxted goalkeeper.

Her powerful strike was well saved and pushed behind for a corner. From the resulting set piece, Gueriani found herself free at the back post but fired over the bar.

Despite Carshalton controlling the early stages, Oxted created chances of their own and forced stand-in goalkeeper Georgie Edwards into a smart save on 35 minutes. However, the breakthrough finally came on 41 minutes when Dee Badley latched onto a through ball, raced clear, and slotted calmly into the bottom corner.

Heather Eade came close to doubling the lead just before half-time, but her effort curled narrowly wide.

The Robins went into the break a goal to the good and looked determined to build on their strong first-half display. They came out firing after the restart and almost doubled the advantage on 47 minutes, Gueriani firing just over after a neat move down the left. The second goal soon followed, as Badley threaded a pass through to Eade, who finished superbly into the far corner.

Carshalton continued to press for more, but an inspired performance from the Oxted goalkeeper kept the score at 2–0. Eade had two more opportunities – the first saved well, and the second brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar. Badley then pounced on a loose pass and struck toward goal. The effort was saved into the path of Underhill, who fired over.

The third goal finally arrived on 75 minutes. Kimble delivered an excellent cross from the left, picking out substitute Taylor McCrea, who turned the ball home for her 10th league goal of the season.

With ten minutes remaining, the result looked secure, but Carshalton were hungry for more. Kimble showed great determination to win the ball outside the box and fired goalwards, but her effort was tipped wide. McCrea then went close again, though her shot lacked power and was comfortably saved.

In the closing minutes, the Robins struck twice more in quick succession. Eade and Badley combined again, with Eade slipping a clever pass through for Badley to finish confidently for 4–0.

Moments later, Eade beat the offside trap and slotted home to complete the scoring – sealing a five-star performance for Carshalton.

The Robins have now won three games in a row, and attention turns to Sunday as they begin their defence of the Surrey Divisional Cup at home against local rivals Sutton United Reserves.
