Carshalton Athletic FC are pleased to announce the retention of midfielder Mason Saunders-Henry for the upcoming campaign.
“Retaining Mason’s services was crucial for what we’re aiming to achieve this season,” said Manager Peter Adeniyi. “He’s a midfielder who truly has it all, and now he’s adding goals to his game. I’m excited to see him have an outstanding 2025–26 season.”
The 25-year-old was a key figure in his first full season at Carshalton, making 40 appearances after joining from Kingstonian FC midway through 2023–24. His impact was felt immediately, scoring eight goals—a tally that saw him finish as the club’s joint third-top scorer, level with Tommy Bradford and only trailing Fabio Saraiva and David Smith.

Saunders-Henry’s rise has been nothing short of impressive. Adeniyi previously hailed him as “the best player in Step 3” when he was crowned joint Young Player of the Year, high praise that reflects his immense talent. Playing as the most advanced midfielder in a trio, he has excelled with his technical ability, sharp first touch, and composed play, seamlessly threading passes through for teammates who are making runs beyond the opposition’s defence.
Originally a wide midfielder, Saunders-Henry has thrived in a more central role under Adeniyi’s guidance. A pivotal conversation during the festive period focused on refining his game, particularly in front of goal. The results spoke for themselves—by season’s end, he had added another six goals to his tally, demonstrating his continued growth and adaptability.
His standout moment of 2024–25 came in dramatic fashion, as he netted a 90th-minute strike to secure a crucial 2–0 victory over Chatham United, ending their 15-match unbeaten run and propelling Carshalton into the play-off spots. It was a triumphant way to mark his return from injury and reinforce his importance to the team.
The club are thrilled that Mason has chosen to continue his journey at Colston Avenue!
