History
Carshalton Athletic FC 1906
Ramsgate
The club saw some success in those early days, reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in 1886 where they were beaten 3-1 by Blackburn Rovers.
In the 1950s and 1960s the club operated as Brentwood & Warley FC and were three times winners of the Delphian League. In 1965 the club turned ‘professional’ becoming Brentwood Town FC.
The late 60s saw great success for the club as they rapidly rose to the heights of non-league football. Brentwood Town became a force to be reckoned with in the Southern League Premier Division, reaching the third round proper of the FA Cup in the 1969/70 season. But following their successful run the club subsequently folded and amalgamated with Chelmsford City.
The current club was founded in 1954 as Manor Athletic playing from King George’s Playing Fields in Hartswood. From 1957 to 1993 the Club played at Larkins Playing Fields on the Ongar Road.
With help from the local council, Brentwood found a new home at The Brentwood Centre, where they played their first match in October 1993.
The Club won its first Essex Senior League title in 2001. In 2004 the Essex County FA officially gave the club permission to change its name and re-adopt the title of Brentwood Town FC.
The Blues won the Essex Senior League for a second time in the 2006-07 season, gaining promotion to the Isthmian League Division One North. The club experienced play-off heartbreak in the 2010-11 season, losing 3-2 in the Play Off Final to Wingate & Finchley. In 2015, they secured promotion in style, beating Thurrock 5-0 to secure promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division for the first time.
Relegation back to the Isthmian League Division One North occurred the following season. After Play-Off Final defeats to Canvey Island in 2022 and Bowers & Pistea in 2024, both on penalties, Brentwood Town secured a return to Step 3 by winning the Isthmian League North Division, and last season saw a very promising Play-Off position finish.

The Robins Choir are one of the best-known fans-groups in non-league.
You will find them behind the opposition goal cheering on the team come rain or shine.

Ground Rules
Colston Avenue Ground Rules
Carshalton Athletic is a FA Charter Standard Community Club.
We do our best to make every matchday or event as safe and enjoyable as we can for players, fans, customers and officials. We also respect the amenity of our neighbours.
To those ends we have ground rules that we respectfully ask visitors to the ground to abide by.
Approaching and leaving the ground and stadium
Please respect the amenity of neighbours surrounding the ground when arriving and leaving the ground. If driving please drive very slowly and carefully in the access road approaching the ground and in the car parks inside the ground. Please avoid making unnecessary noise in the surrounding roads on your journey to the ground, please save it all up in support of your team!
Dogs
Dogs are not permitted in the stadium, regardless of size and nature. (Except guide dogs)
No Drums or clappers
Our operating licence prohibits the use of drums, clappers or musical instruments, they cannot be brought into the ground
Flags and Banners
There are plenty of places to hang flags and banners around the ground, but pleased don’t hang them over the pitch-side barriers where they cover advertising hoardings.
Bring Photo ID
Please bring photo ID. You may need it for purchasing alcohol. Seniors, U18s and all season ticket holders will need to show it at the turnstiles, no exceptions.
Challenge 25
If you are lucky enough to look under the age of 25, then you will need to show a driving license, passport or an id card bearing the PASS hologram. Staff will lose their jobs if they don’t adhere to the challenge 25 guidelines.
Video Filming
Any filming within the ground that is intended for publishing online must seek written permission before filming – except for the official videographers of opposition clubs who may film at the ground for the period beginning 2 hours before kickoff and ending two hours after kickoff. Other private or third party videographers must seek the clubs written permission prior to filming within the ground if the footage it to be published online.
