Team news There was a debut for youngster Rylan John in the backline, while Dario Centenera, Sintara Antwi and Nassin Slama were also given chances to impress. Michael Kamara, Danny Dudley, Jerry Amoo and Christie Pattisson all came back in, plus loanees Jauvan Splatt and Lewis White were given their first full starts. Ex-Robin Joe Tupper started in goal for the hosts.

Kick-off The hosts raced into a healthy early lead in this one – Elliot Reeves burst through in the fourth minute and coolly beat Dario, then a half cleared cross from the right fell to Adem Ramadan and he side-footed home from about eight yards.

Carshalton rallied as White tested Tupper from distance but Reeves grabbed his second of the evening on 39 minutes, blasting home an angled strike.

And the striker was given a chance to record a hat-trick from the spot, after he was hauled down by Kamara in the box on 41 minutes, which he duly took.

But Carshalton managed to reduce the arrears before the break – Tupper initially denied Pattisson and his follow-up across goal was tapped in by Splatt for his first ever Carshalton goal.

The Robins almost scored again after the restart as Jordan Cheadle’s free kick was knocked down by Dudley inside Margate’s area, but Splatt’s thunderous hit was pushed onto the crossbar by Tupper.

But Margate’s victory was never really in doubt and they added a gloss on 72 minutes via Kadell Daniel’s first-time strike from 10 yards.
