Team news Player/manager Peter Adeniyi made two changes from the side that beat Folkestone Invicta last week – Omar Koroma and Lewis White came in for Daniel Pappoe and Ernold Haxhiu.

Kick-off With Storm Dennis making its presence known during the day, the game kicked off in swirling winds and rain but Carshalton made a great start.

Just 10 minutes were on the clock when Jordan Cheadle sent over a corner which Paris Hamilton-Downes won at the back post and Luke Read met it to head his first ever goal for the club past goalkeeper Ravan Constable.

The visitors tried to respond straightaway but Ben Ward-Cochrane’s header on Bradley Sach’s dinked cross flew straight at Kleton Perntreou.

Ricky Korboa hadn’t scored in almost a month but, after putting a sighter into Constable’s midriff on 21 minutes, he broke that drought just after the half-hour.

The Potters Bar defence tried to play its way out of trouble but Lewis White robbed the ball off Jack Humphrey and the defender bundled the winger over inside the box. The referee was going to blow for a spot-kick but Korboa got onto the loose ball and side-footed home from 10 yards.

The Scholars again got on the attack but Josh Hutchinson’s 30 yard effort was never on target and Carshalton came within a whisker of extending their lead on 36 minutes.

A neat backheel by Korboa on the far side got Christie Pattisson away and the forward cut inside before hitting a rocket which beat Constable but cannoned back off the crossbar.

Ola Sogbanmu was showing great strength in the middle of the park and winning many battles, but he almost played an inch-perfect through ball from inside his own half on 40 minutes – Koroma burst through on goal but Constable read the situation and just beat the striker to the ball.

HALF-TIME: 2 – 0

As they did against Folkestone last week, Carshalton flew out the blocks after the restart and good work by White down the right saw him cross for Pattisson to clinically sweep home his thirteenth of the season.

Cheadle was next to line up an effort which flew into the midriff of Constable, but the visiting goalkeeper could do nothing about the Robins’ next opportunity on 52 minutes.

A long throw into Town’s box was headed clear only for Read to come onto the ball and hit a first-time effort with his left foot into the bottom corner.

The home fans were in dreamland and it almost got better just three minutes later as Pattisson got Hamilton-Downes away on the left and his cross caused mayhem in the Town six yard area – the ball did seemingly cross the line at one point but a linesman’s flag put a stop to all the antics.

The visitors made three substitutions around the hour mark but it made no difference as Carshalton grabbed their fifth of the afternoon on 64 minutes.

White’s perfectly weighted through ball got Koroma beyond the Town defence and he bore down on goal, rounded the oncoming Constable whom had rushed out of his area. The striker did have to hold off the attentions of the recovering Dwight Pascal however as he slid the ball in from the angle.

Town did reduce the scoreline on 71 minutes as a Pascal cross deceived everyone and hit the far post, a combination of Perntreou and Dudley did enough to stop Keagan Coles’ follow-up but sub Charlie Barker did bundle the ball in.

But that didn’t really affect Carshalton - White came close to capping his impressive display with a goal but shot wide from 18 yards, goalkeeper Dario Centenera-Perez was handed a league debut with eight minutes to go and sub Ernold Haxhiu blasted over from 15 yards following good work by White again down the right.
