Our 'Man of the Match': Luke Read
Kalvin Morath-Gibbs returned in place of Daniel Pappoe whom dropped to the bench, while Danny Dudley and Jordan Cheadle were also drafted back in as late changes were needed before kick-off. Ex-Robin Warren Morgan lined up for the hosts.
The match began even but the best opportunity of the opening half fell to Harry Ottaway on 10 minutes - Cheadle found Ricky Korboa on the left, his square ball teed up Ottaway 20 yards out but his rasping drive flew just over the crossbar.
Casuals won a lot of headers inside the Carshalton box throughout this one but the best chance to score came when Reece Hannigan nodded a free kick down, but Luke Read did well to get in front and clear the ball away from incoming opponents.
We won a free kick on 20 minutes and Cheadle trotted forward, but his curled effort towards the near post was claimed by keeper Danny Bracken.
Korboa had to go off just after the half hour complaining of breathing difficulties, with Pattisson entering the fray, but the last action of the half came with a half-hearted penalty claim by the hosts which was waved away by the referee.
HALF-TIME: 0 - 0
Mendy came on for Taofiq Olomowewe at the start of the second-half as the Robins tried to bolster the attack, but the first shot came via Ollie Sitch whom bent a right-footed effort way beyond Patrick Ohman's far post.
Ottaway was very much involved in most of Carshalton's best attacks - he acrobatically volleyed a dinked Paris Hamilton-Downes pass over on 53 minutes.
Then, five minutes later, Cheadle played the centre forward in on goal and he was seemingly clipped by Juevan Spencer. The referee blew his whistle but, instead of awarding a spot-kick, he booked a bemused Ottaway for simulation.
Both sides were getting into good crossing positions but neither goalkeeper had still yet to make a save - Ottaway put a powerful diving header over the bar and Kevant Serbony failed to catch a half volley from 18 yards that sat up nicely to be hit.
Hamilton-Downes was perhaps fortunate to only receive a booking as he slid in late on Serbony but the game seemed destined to end goalless until the 86th minute.
Jack Rudoni managed to waltz along the Robins' byline and his square pass was tucked in by the unmarked Majed Osman from about four yards.
The defeat ended Carshalton's 13 game unbeaten run and was the third time Casuals had won against the Robins this season.
