Our ' Man of the Match': Jacob Mendy
Bobby Price came back into the first eleven, while Jordan Cheadle and Courtney Swaby were both named among the substitutes.
The first real action came on six minutes as Carshalton worked the ball along the Harlow 18 yard line before Kalvin Morath-Gibbs teed up Peter Adeniyi, but keeper Cabhan Clarke palmed the ball around his near post.
The Robins were dominating the early possession and they earned a free kick on 13 minutes - Tommy Bradford whipped in a good cross which Danny Dudley guided wide first-time past the near post.
But the visitors' best chance of the game came two minutes later as Emile Acquah charged down a clearance by Patrick Ohman to be left in front of an open goal, but the ball wouldn't settle for the striker and recovering defenders got back to block him out.
Carshalton continued to have the lions share of possession but Clarke wasn't called into any serious action again until the 34th minutes - Ricky Korboa put Jacob Mendy away down the left and the keeper rushed out his area to confront him. The midfielder went past Clarke however but, before he could think of shooting for goal, Emmanuel Udogi slid in to block the ball away.
There was a growing sense of frustration among the home fans as the game approached half-time still goalless, but the Robins did in fact manage to finally break Harlow's stubborn resistance on 42 minutes.
A Bradford corner was met by Dudley whom headed the ball inside the post for his second of the season - his other coming against Harlow Town in the FA Trophy fixture before Christmas.
HALF-TIME: 1 - 0
Both sides created chances early into the second-half - Paris Hamilton-Downes played a lovely through ball for Harry Ottaway to burst beyond the last man, but the linesman gave him as just offside.
Then, at the other end, Matt Foy managed to squeeze a low cross in from the left which Tom Hitchcock was millimetres away from connecting on inside the six yard area.
But Carshalton doubled their lead on 68 minutes and it all started after Morath-Gibbs volleyed a clearance over halfway. Town defender Taylor Hastings seemed odds-on to protect the ball but Mendy showed amazing pace to nip in front of the defender, take the ball on to goal and sit Clarke down before coolly slotting home. That was also his second goal against Harlow this season, the first coming in the 4-0 away league win back in October.
That seemed to calm the home crowd who where then treated to some nice flowing football as Carshalton tried to add to the scoreline, but Bradford had a 20 yard effort blocked and Clarke got down well to push away a low strike by Korboa on 77 minutes.
Ohman finally made a save on 82 minutes as Acquah lined up a shot from the edge of the area, but the ball fell comfortably into the keeper's arms.
And Korboa almost saved the best until last as, on 86 minutes, Dudley got Mendy away and his low cross was taken by the club's current top goalscorer, but his cheeky backheel from about eight yards was claimed by Clarke.
