Match summary - win against Herne Bay (a)

Updated: Apr 13, 2018

We went to the top of the Bostik South by virtue of a last-minute Christie Pattisson winner at Herne Bay, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

Team news Danny Dudley and Omar Koroma replaced Peter Adeniyi and Ola Sogbanmu from Saturday’s win against Walton Casuals.

Our only defeat since the start of November came when our hosts visited Colston Avenue back in December, the 2-0 loss still fresh in the fans' minds as we arrived at Altira Park.

But this time it was us that opened the scoring as, on 34 minutes, Tommy Bradford did well to chest down a long ball on the edge of their box. He found Raheem Sterling-Parker whom cut inside on his right and, by using his marker as a screen, hit his 16th goal of the season past the wrong-footed Hunter.

Bradford almost got on the scoresheet himself just two minutes later as Koroma burst into the box before squeezing in a low cross, but this time Hunter got down well and denied our number 10 with a smart save.

Billy Bishop was on his toes on 41 minutes as our hosts won a free kick a yard outside our box, but our keeper was equal to the strike.

HALF-TIME: 0 - 1

Bradford was denied by Hunter again just after the break

We’d kept clean sheets in our last two outings but we conceded a spot-kick on 70 minutes as DUdley lunged in on Jake Embrey and the forward picked himself up to beat Billy Bishop from 12 yards.

But this squad never knows when it’s beaten, as 21 wins and six draws in 28 games proves, and, just as the game was entering added time, Pattisson drove in his third goal as a Robin to send the travelling fans into raptures.

Next up We host Whyteleafe on Saturday 14th April and the club is hoping to get over 500 people into Colston Avenue as the squad could achieve promotion with victory. It was a competitive game against Leafe last November - a 1-1 draw with our goal coming via the departed Mickel Miller - who themselves have had a positive season and are still mathematically in with a play-off shout. Our fans have been brilliant this season, and have been rewarded with some fantastic football and great results, so please bring a friend on Saturday and help cheer Peter Adeniyi and the boys on.
