Carshalton picked up a hard-fought point against a competitive Worthing side on Tuesday, writes James Barrett-Sterling.
Worthing 1 – 1 Carshalton Athletic Isthmian Premier League Tuesday 22nd October 2019 Attendance: 470 Last five results: DDLWD
Team news There were two changes from the side that valiantly defeated Dagenham and Redbridge last Saturday – Kershaney Samuels and Tommy Bradford came in for Ola Sogbanmu and Omar Koroma.
Kick-off It was a pretty quiet start to the first-half although Lloyd Dawes put a fifth minute chance wide of our right-hand post.
But the same player didn’t miss on 27 minutes as Dawes latched on to a weighed through ball by Ricky Aguiar and slotted it beyond Kleton Perntreou to open the scoring.
Carshalton came out fighting after the break and they had two big chances to equalise before the hour, firstly as a low Bobby Price cross only needed a touch as it zipped along the six yard box.
Then Paris Hamilton-Downes bent in a corner kick that a combination of Danny Dudley and his marker kept from dropping over the line.
The Robins cause received a boost as, following a late lunge on Ricky Korboa, Joel Colbran was dismissed for a second yellow card.
And parity was restored on 65 minutes as Bradford brought down Kershaney Samuels' high pass before finishing first-time past Carl Rushworth.
This draw keeps Carshalton in ninth place in the league but now means the club are unbeaten in five league games.
