What better way to start the month off than an FA Cup away-day? This Saturday, Carshalton travel to Bedfont Sports Club with a place in the Third Round Qualifying up for grabs.
Bedfont are in good form in the competition, winning both of their previous games 3-1 against Hassocks and Lewes respectively. Against Hassocks, two goals from Jordan Espirit and one from Darryl Saunders was enough to see them off, and Kevin Diomande, Shamal Edwards and Charlie Postance all got on the scoresheet to dispatch of Lewes.
Their league campaign hasn’t started quite as well, with two defeats in two in the Isthmian South-Central League. The Eagles lost 1-0 to Hanwell Town on the opening day, and went down 3-2 to Ware in a game they lead 2-1 before two goals in three minutes took the points away from them. One plus is the form of Darryl Saunders, who scored both goals in that game and will be looking to add to his tally at the weekend.
Carshalton have managed ten goals across the previous rounds while only conceding once, which came in their 5-1 win over Whitstable Town. The Robins will be hoping David Fisher can keep up his eye for goal in the competition in which he has scored four times already.
The Robins may be without a couple of key players this Saturday, Ohman and Samuels both picked up injuries during the league win over East Thurrock on Tuesday, with Samuels having to be carried off, and Dan Bennett looks set to continue his spell on the side lines with the knee injury he picked up in the warm-up before the 2-2 draw against Margate.
Tommy Bradford, who has scored in each of the previous rounds, is available after serving his one match suspension, and something all Robins fans will have loved to have seen was the return of Harry Ottoway against East Thurrock (albeit for only 20 minutes) following his lengthy spell out with injury.
The Robins are still unbeaten this season with four wins and a draw in September which has seen striker Omar Koroma nominated for Isthmian Premier Division’s Player of the month award. He has scored in all three of his league appearances and grabbed one in the FA Cup.
The Third Round Qualifying game will take place in ten days time on Tuesday October 13th as we edge closer and closer to the First Round Proper.
Unfortunately, coach travel this season is limited to players due to Covid-19 social distancing rules, meaning fans will not be able to travel on the club coach. So, make sure to check out our Twitter for live updates of the game.
