Run of home league games continues with Potters Bar

Carshalton Athletic continue a run of three straight home league games when they welcome Potters Bar Town to Colston Avenue on Saturday 12th March (3pm kick off).

The arrival of former Leatherhead man, Sammy Moore as manager and a lot of wheeling and dealing of players have revitalised the visitors after a horror January saw them fail to score a goal and drop to one place above the relegation zone.

Prior to Tuesday night’s 2-1 home loss to promotion chasers Hornchurch, the Scholars were unbeaten in five games. They currently sit 14th in the Isthmian League Premier Division with 38 points from 31 games, 10 points clear of the relegation playoff spot.

Earlier in the season, Carshalton turned in one of their best defensive performances of the season in a 2-1 win at Potters Bar. Danny Bassett and Paris Hamilton-Downes put the Robins two up at half time with the host’s reply coming from a late Ola Sogbanmu own goal.

Carshalton need to dust themselves off though after a 4-1 defeat at Margate in the Velocity Trophy quarter final on Tuesday night. They will look to revert to their generally solid home form and pick up where they left off in registering two late goals to beat Haringey Borough 3-0 last Saturday. The last of those came from Bassett, who moved on to 20 goals for the season in all competitions.
