We eased to a fairly comfortable sixth win in seven leagues as we beat visiting Enfield Town, writes James Barrett-Sterling.
Carshalton Athletic 1 – 0 Enfield Town Bostik Premier League Saturday 1st December 2018 Attendance: 319 Last five results: WLWDW Current league position: 6th (with 28 points)
Team news Mike Dixon was handed a start after two recent impressive performances off the bench, while Jordan Cheadle and Daniel Pappoe returned from their suspension.
Kick-off This game between eighth and ninth at Colston Avenue was quite open during the first 45 minutes but, although we were the more dominant, clear chances were at a premium.
The best opportunity before the deadlock was broken fell to player/manager Peter Adeniyi whom worked visiting keeper Joe Wright on 25 minutes.
But we took the lead on the cusp of half-time as we broke from a Town free kick on the edge of our own box. Peter Adeniyi got onto a loose ball, took it over halfway and eventually picked out Mike Dixon whom turned and hammered home his fourth of the season.
We continued to look the more assured going forward in the second-half, but we just couldn't add to the scoreline.
Jordan Cheadle and Dixon both blasted further attempts just over while Tommy Bradford, who is only four goals away from a Carshalton century, could only fire at Wright on 70 minutes.
Town almost grabbed a fortuitous equaliser on 75 minutes as a deep Sam Youngs cross swerved on target and forced Patrick Ohman into a fine save.
But we went on to seal another win, keeping a third clean sheet in a row in the process, and we leapfrogged our visitors to now sit just outside the play-off positions on goal difference.
Next up We travel to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday 8th December before Dorking Wanderers arrive for our FA Trophy tie on Saturday 15th December.
