Team news

Patrick Ohman was back in to keep goal, while Danny Dudley, Mike Dixon and Jacob Mendy replaced Peter Adeniyi, Harry Ottaway and Ricky Korboa from Saturday. Luke Read and Ola Sogbanmu were back among the substitutes. Ex-Robin Byron Harrison was named on the hosts' bench.

Much like the original tie, which ended 3-3 at Colston Avenue, Barnet started on the front foot and Carshalton's plan to keep it tight fell apart on seven minutes.

A ball down the inside left channel got Dan Sparkes in and his low ball across the six yard box was slid in by Shaquille Coulthirst to open the scoring.

The home side continued to dominate possession and Wesley Fonguck smashed a cross/shot just wide of Ohman's far post on 12 minutes, but Carshalton created a magical moment with their first real attack on 18 minutes.

bobby Price Price won the ball midway inside his own half and it found its way, via Paris Hamilton-Downes, to Tommy Bradford. The diminutive forward looked up and, from inside the centre circle threaded a perfectly-weighted through ball that got Mendy away and the midfielder kept his cool to eventually beat Will Huffer low from 15 yards.

The away fans were in dreamland but, before everyone associated with Carshalton could settle down, Barnet went and spoiled that atmosphere straightaway.

Coulthirst chested down a chipped pass by Dan Sweeney into the path of Medy Elito who then saw his fizzed pass cushioned back to the goalscorer by Sparkes. He looked up and buried a powerful rising shot beyond the dive of Ohman from 18 yards.

That could've severely dented the Robins' confidence but they kept their heads to deny the home side any more serious glimpses of their goal.

A misplaced pass by David Tutonda on 31 minutes reached Mendy 20 yards from goal but, under more pressure this time, he hit a shot straight at Huffer.

Barnet broke straight down the other end and Coulthirst was denied a first-half hat-trick as Ohman got down well to parry away a curled effort from just inside the box.

Cheye Alexander then appeared to go in two-footed on Dixon as the pair went for a loose ball but the referee deemed the late challenge as a yellow card only.

But the home side continued to get forward and another low Sparkes cross on 41 minutes was only half-cleared and a combination of Ohman and Cheadle then blocked Elito's follow-up off the line.

Bees skipper Craig Robson put a sighter over from 15 yards following a corner kick that wasn't cleared and Ohman was equal to a Fonguck drive from 18 yards in stoppage time.

HALF-TIME: 2 - 1

Korboa was introduced for Dixon at the start of the second-half and the Robins came within a whisker of equalising on 47 minutes.

Bradford played a Daniel Pappoe pass first-time and Bobby Price burst in behind the Barnet defence but his firm shot cannoned back off the far post and Hamilton-Downes' follow-up was blocked away.

The full back got on the front foot again on 53 minutes and he galloped towards the Barnet box but his low centre looking for Korboa was easily cleared.

Then, on 61 minutes, Craig Robson slipped while trying to cut out a through ball and Christie Pattisson ran through on goal. He was one-on-one with Huffer but the keeper spread himself and blocked the shot away with an outstretched leg.

Barnet should've added a third on 69 minutes as Alexander's cross was met first-time by Fonguck but, from six yards out, he ballooned the ball off target.

And Ohman was at it again on 75 minutes as, following a neat build-up, Coulthirst teed up Elito from 15 yards but the midfielder saw his low effort parried away.

Carshalton didn't really fashion another chance of note and the game finished in favour of the home side who go on to meet AFC Flyde in the quarter-finals.
