We've Met Before - Bowers & Pitsea

Thanks to the current pandemic we have only met Bowers and Pitsea twice before, despite them being present in the Premier Division since the 2019-20 season.

Not only are meetings as rare as hen's teeth but goals also with just one scored by either side in those two meetings but what a goal it was! It came in our first meeting in February 2020 on a Tuesday night in Essex as we met a tough and organised Bowers side who had come into the game on the back of two very good away draws at Cheshunt and Haringey Borough. The Robins had secured just one point out of the last nine. Bowers had the better of the early chances and key man Tommy Bradford had to leave the field just on the half hour mark. This brought on Jordan Cheadle who would have such an impact later. Both sides had good chances to break the deadlock but it looked as if the game was going to end goalless until Cheadle picked up the ball on eighty four minutes and advanced on the Bowers goal letting fly with a thunderbolt from twenty five yards straight into the far corner of the net for his first of the season. The action was not over yet as Bowers pressed for an equaliser and Danny Dudley had to clear off the line on the stroke of full time.

The next meeting between the sides was not until September 2021 and was a much different affair with little goal mouth action and mostly only half chances presenting themselves to both sides. The was evening livened up slightly when Dan Hector was brought down in the second half resulting in a bit of pushing and shoving between both sets of players and indeed Hector probably had the best chance of the game to break the deadlock shortly afterwards, hitting his shot straight at Bowers keeper Martyn Guest.
