Relentless Robins roll past Merstham
The Robins put on a dominant display away from home, securing all three points in a well deserved 4-1 victory over Merstham Women FC in what turned out to be a fiery and eventful encounter.
The match started with a setback for Carshalton after a misjudged short corner in the 17th minute saw Merstham counterattack with pace, leaving goalkeeper Patton exposed in a 1v1 situation that ended in the back of the net. A frustrating moment, but one that sparked determination within the Robins’ ranks.
From there, Carshalton showed true character and fighting spirit, regaining control and pushing forward with intensity. Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when Badley coolly slotted home the equaliser, following a brilliant assist from Eade.
Just moments later, the turnaround was complete. A pinpoint long pass from Allen at the back found Badley once again, who made no mistake with a clinical finish in the 39th minute to give Carshalton a 2-1 lead going into the break.
After halftime, the Robins continued to dominate possession and dictate the tempo. Their efforts were rewarded when Eade capped off a superb strike, extending the lead to 3-1.
But Carshalton weren’t quite finished yet. Off the bench super sub Gueriani made an immediate impact, rising highest to meet an inch-perfect cross from Eade and heading home to make it 4-1. That’s two goals in two games for Gueriani, proving to be a real weapon off the bench
Despite the scoreline, the game wasn’t without controversy. Merstham showed a display of promising opportunities in front of goal that were dealt with well by our backline and goalkeeper Patton.
A fantastic performance, full of fight, creativity, and composure. The Robins will look to carry on this momentum into Tuesday’s Isthmian Cup clash vs Sutton United 1st Team, with confidence high and spirits soaring.
