Robins Impress Against Tooting Bec
Carshalton continued their pre-season preparations in style with a convincing 6–0 midweek win against Tooting Bec.
With several players returning after missing 6 – 1 win over Chessington, manager Aaron Lamont had a wealth of options at his disposal, naming a 20-player squad. Captain Georgie Edwards and last season’s top scorer Heather Eade were both back in the starting lineup, while Lamont also took the opportunity to trial a number of players as he fine-tunes the team ahead of their first competitive match in less than two weeks.
In front of a healthy crowd of 104, it was Carshalton who struck first. After just eight minutes, the Robins put together an intricate passing move. Eade and Badley linked up, and a well-placed ball eventually found Badley again at the far post. She smashed home to give Carshalton a deserved early lead.

Their advantage was doubled in the 23rd minute. Badley, once again involved, won the ball back in Tooting’s box and managed to get a shot off. The goalkeeper parried the effort, but only as far as Hudson-Odoi, who tapped in from close range.

Just minutes later, it was 3–0. Badley continued to torment the Tooting defence and delivered a dangerous cross into the box. The keeper spilled the ball into the path of Bianca Underhill, who calmly slotted it home.

Carshalton were briefly forced into a reshuffle when Demi Allen was taken off and replaced by Trialist 6. However, the disruption did not halt their momentum. Just before half-time, Trialist 6 delivered a pinpoint free kick into the box, where Becky Sargent rose highest to head home a powerful fourth goal.

Still hungry for more, the Robins made 2 changes at half time and extended their lead in the 53rd minute. Trialist 6 produced a moment of brilliance, unleashing a thunderous 25-yard strike that flew past the helpless Tooting goalkeeper.
Carshalton also had a trialist in goal, and while she was largely untroubled, she was called into action on 55 minutes to make an impressive save, denying Tooting’s number 9 and preserving the clean sheet.

As the game entered its final third, Carshalton introduced more fresh legs, including Kanita Throp, Honey Dulley, and Taylor McCrea. Their energy injected renewed pace into the home side. Dulley, in particular, looked dangerous on the right flank, repeatedly threatening a tired Tooting defence. She came close to scoring in the 80th minute when a cleverly worked corner found her on the edge of the box, but the visiting goalkeeper did well to push her shot away.
Not content with five, Carshalton added a sixth with the attack of the game. A corner was only partially cleared, falling to Trialist 6 outside the area. With her back to goal, she turned smartly, created space, and struck a sublime shot that clipped the underside of the bar on its way in – the standout goal on a calm evening at Colston Avenue.
The referee’s whistle was met with cheers from the Robins faithful, who were treated to an excellent all-round performance. As well as the 6 goals, the Carshalton defence performed excellently over the 90 minutes, effectively limiting Tooting’s chances and helping secure a well-earned clean sheet. With just under two weeks until their FA Cup tie against South London FC, Lamont will be encouraged by his side’s clean sheet, fitness levels, and attacking flair. With many players impressing, the manager may face some tough selection decisions.

Carshalton have one final pre-season test on Sunday, when they welcome Tonbridge Angels to Colston Avenue. Lamont will be hoping to round off their preparations with another strong showing.
