Robins look for double over Invicta
Carshalton Athletic travel to the Kent coast on Saturday 27th January to face Folkestone Invicta (3pm kick off) aiming to go one better in a fixture that has ended up a draw in each of the last two seasons.
Invicta have had a disappointing season by their recent standards and they currently sit in 16th position in the Isthmian League Premier Division with 27 points from 25 games.
Current manager Andy Drury took over in November and after a sticky start which saw Folkestone lose six games on the bounce between mid-November and the end of December, recent results have shown improvement. Tuesday nightâs defeat at Canvey Island was their first in five games, a spell which has included an impressive away win at promotion chasers, Enfield Town.
Earlier in the season, the Robins handed Invicta a 3-1 defeat at Colston Avenue with goals from Bunmi Babajide, Luke Read and Mark Marshall. Read was again on target in last weekâs 2-1 win over Hastings United with his second goal in four games. That win took Carshalton back up to eighth place after a run of 16 points from the last 21, hard on the heels of Bognor and Hastings but six points shy of Wingate and Finchley in the final playoff spot.
The recent crossover of players between the two clubs potentially adds a bit of spice to the game. Ibrahim Olutade, who made his Robinsâ debut as a substitute against Hastings last Saturday started the season with Invicta while Andre Coker also joined on loan from the Kent side earlier in the season. For Folkestone, former Robin Chris Sessegnon has featured in a number of recent games.
