Robins Stunned by Binfield
Carshalton were left stunned after being dumped out of the Velocity Trophy by lower-tier side Binfield FC.
Manager Peter Adeniyi made four changes to the team that drew with Hashtag United on Saturday, with Hamstead, Saunders Henry, Ming, and Koroma coming into the starting lineup.
The game kicked off with Carshalton creating the first real opportunity. Some good work on the left by Ifeanyi earned a free kick just outside the box. Up stepped Saunders Henry, who attempted to curl the ball into the far corner,

but his effort sailed just over the bar.
Chances were few and far between in the early stages, though Binfield looked dangerous on the break. Carshalton then had a big chance to take the lead. Ifeanyi showed some neat footwork on the right and delivered a low ball across the face of goal. Salami was there but couldn’t stretch far enough to turn it home.

It was a significant chance – and one the Robins would soon regret missing.
Moments later, Binfield were awarded a penalty. Toby Thompson was brought down inside the Carshalton box, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Kickie Dzimba stepped up and calmly sent Kerbey the wrong way to give the Moles the lead.
The game’s major talking point came in the 33rd minute. Kola Salami used his pace to chase a through ball, with Binfield goalkeeper Coleridge Fubler racing out of his area to intercept. Salami got there first and nudged the ball away from goal before being brought down. The referee immediately signaled for a free kick. The Robins’ supporters called for a red card, but the referee deemed it not to be the denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity and instead showed only a yellow.
Carshalton couldn’t capitalise on the resulting free kick, and just three minutes later, Binfield doubled their lead. Nathan Jones fired a shot from distance, which took a heavy deflection off Laurence Ernest. The deflection wrong-footed Kerbey and found the back of the net – the away side now two goals to the good.
Carshalton had the final chance of the half, with Saunders Henry heading a corner straight at Fubler before the sides went in at the break.

Into the second half, Tolu Ladapo had a good opportunity on the hour mark, but his effort went narrowly wide. The Robins made a change, with Sankoh replacing Salami. However, on 75 minutes, Binfield put the game to bed. Substitute Lucas Wynn made an excellent run down the left before curling a shot past Kerbey to make it 3–0. Wynn nearly added a fourth five minutes later but blazed his effort over the bar.
Carshalton continued to push forward – Saunders Henry had a shot saved, and Ifeanyi saw one blocked – but it wasn’t to be.

Binfield held firm to keep their first clean sheet of the season, as the final whistle confirmed a difficult evening at Colston Avenue.
It was a disappointing night for the Robins, who are now out of all four cup competitions.

Binfield, on the other hand, were impressive: solid at the back, disciplined in midfield, and clinical in front of goal.
Carshalton now turn their attention to Saturday’s Isthmian League fixture, as they travel to Ramsgate.
