Carshalton Athletic are thrilled to announce that the Robins’ 2024–25 Players’ Player of the Season Lara Rodriguez has committed to the upcoming campaign.

Rodriguez said: “I’ve had a great past year at CAFC and am looking forward to continuing to play for the club and hopefully aim for promotion.”

Manager Aaron Lamont added: “Lara is one of the easiest players I’ve had the pleasure of managing. She gives everything at every session and every game, and it shows in her development this season. She’s super reliable and I can’t wait to see her game improve again this season.”

The defender made 17 appearances in red and white during her debut senior campaign, starting 13 times and scoring a stunning goal — a sharp swivelled finish into the roof of the net in the hard-fought 3-2 victory over Croydon FC. It was a result that saw Lamont’s side reach the summit of the league.

Despite being just 17, Rodriguez quickly became a cornerstone of a resolute Reds defence that conceded only 12 goals all season — the second-best defensive record in the Surrey Premier Division, trailing only champions Farnham Town.

Her composure, maturity beyond her years, and adaptability stood out throughout the campaign. Trusted by Lamont in multiple roles across both back four and back five formations, Rodriguez passed every challenge with flying colours.

A versatile and tireless defender, Rodriguez offers a rare blend of defensive steel and attacking intent. Whether operating centrally or out wide, her tough tackling, relentless engine, and resilience make her one of the most exciting young talents in the division.
